State Troopers responded to the crash at the mile 51 on Route 128 North in Manchester-by-the-Sea around 7:20 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, Massachusetts State Police report.
Upon the arrival Troopers, found a 2009 Honda Civic in the tree line of the right side of the road with a 19-year-old man and 26-year-old man suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Despite life-saving efforts, the 19-year-old, who was from Lynn, died from his injuries on scene, police said. His identity was not released.
Meanwhile the 26-year-old, who is from Florida but believed to be living in Lynn, was airlifted to a Boston hospital for treatment. He was also the driver of the vehicle, according to police.
Initial investigation suggested that the 2009 Honda Civic went off the road and into the woods for unknown reasons. Investigators believe that speed was a factor in the crash, police said.
Both the northbound and southbound lanes were closed to allow a medical helicopter to land, police added. The scene was cleared just before 9 a.m. The crash remains under investigation.
